Tricia is here, visiting from Pembroke. She knows a lot about country life – I am I learning fast. She’s also a huge help. We got the overhead lights up in the studio, cleaned up the woodshed, took a load of old tires to the dump, and yesterday we hauled away part of a huge spruce tree that had fallen on top of the little bridge over the book. That was incredibly hard work, hot and buzzing with mosquitoes (thank goodness for bug shirts!), but satisfying. Hurricane Arthur blew through our section of Cape Breton all day Saturday and then it pelted rain for hours. There appears to be only one new tree fallen on the property, thank goodness. Here’s a picture of two beautiful Pink Ladyslippers on the other side of my brook.
