Cape Breton Winter

The darker, snowier months of the year in Cape Breton bring lots of challenges and a unique beauty. I decided to deal with it by painting it. Here are a few mixed media paintings (ink, gesso, pastel), each approximately 30″ x 20″. Working on the fifth and perhaps final one in this particular series. Depending on how it turns out, I may post this last one.

Wow. Cape Breton winters are obviously quite different from NYC winters: no snow so far and cold temperatures only the last couple of days. Your paintings make it look wonderfully brutal.

  2. That’s a good way to describe winter here, wonderfully brutal! It’s been too long since I’ve been in NYC – not sure when I’ll make it that way, but you are often on my mind! Glad to see your painting evolve.
